Adobe is working on a generative AI video model for its Firefly family. This will bring new tools to its Premiere Pro video editing platform. These new Firefly tools, alongside some proposed third-party integrations with Runway, Pika Labs, and OpenAI’s Sora models, will allow Premiere Pro users to generate video and add or remove objects using text prompts, just like Photoshop’s Generative Fill feature.
Unlike many of Adobe’s previous Firefly-related announcements, no release date has been established for the company’s new video generation tools. The plan is to roll these out “this year.” The creative software giant showcased what its own video model is currently capable of in an early video demo.
Adobe calls the third-party AI integrations in its video preview an “early exploration.” This means they are not certain yet. The idea is to provide Premiere Pro users with more choices. Users can use models like Pika to extend shots or Sora or Runway AI when generating B-roll for their projects.
Adobe says its Content Credentials labels can be applied to these generated clips to identify which AI models have been used to generate them. This helps users know what tools were used in their projects.
These new tools are exciting for users who want to create videos with ease. With AI, they can now add or remove objects or even extend video clips with just a text prompt. This technology can save time and make the video editing process much simpler.
The integration of third-party AI models also means more flexibility for users. They can choose the best tools for their specific needs. Adobe's early exploration shows their commitment to giving users more options.
Adobe's push into AI video generation marks a significant step forward. This technology has the potential to change the way videos are made, making it easier and faster for creators.
